According to Hindu mythology,Many years ago,A hunter lived in forest with his family. He took care of his family by killing the animals. One day he was going to the forest and started hunting but he did not found any animal in the forest. He was very tired and he sat on a Bailpatr tree with some water near him.He put the water near him that he brought from home to drink.A lake was there in front of him and a Shivling was under the tree on which the hunter was sitting. Suddenly, a deer came to the lake to drink water and he became ready with his bow and arrow. Some Bailpatr and water fell on the Shivling and it became his worship of first Pehar. By listening the voice of leaves the deer found the hunter sitting on the tree and it started requesting the hunter to not to kill him and the deer told him that he has two small fawns. The hunter told the deer that he also have to feed his family. So the deer told the hunter that he may let her go to her home to meet her husband and her fawns. The hunter agreed with the deer and let her go.
Again a deer came to the lake to drink water and the hunter became ready with his bow and arrow. Some leaves of Bailpatr and some water again fall on the Shivling. It became his worship of second Pehar. He also allowed that deer to go, as he also told him that he will come back again. The both deers were husband and wife. They told something to their fawns and came to the hunter. The fawns thought what they will do alone therefore both fawns also came with their parents. The hunter became ready with his bow and arrow, and the Bhelpatr leaves and some water again fell on the Shivling. It became the worship of third Pehar. Lord Shiva became very happy and he gave the hunter "knowledge". The hunter put down the bow and arrow down and became very sad as he was trying to kill the polite animals. Suddenly Lord Shiva came in front of the hunter. The hunter touched Lord Shiva's feet and Lord Shiva told him to take any boon and the hunter got the boon of "Bhakti".
